“I had a really scary experience with my friend last night, and I want to share this story because I feel like it could stop this from happening to someone else,” Aili said. “We went out for drinks at a bar that we had never been to before, and my friend was up at the bar buying our second round, and this guy came up to me and asked if I wanted a drink.”
Aili went on to say that she and her friend politely declined the drinks, but then she noticed he kept showing up wherever they went in the bar.
“I was sitting a little bit behind my friend, so I was like, ‘Thank you so much, but my friend’s got me,'” Aili recalled. “We took our drinks and went and sat on the patio. This guy and two friends came and sat at the table next to us. So we just continued our night and ended up hitting the dance floor. I’ve never gotten to dance with my friend before, and we were having the time of our lives until those men showed up on the dance floor.”
Aili and her friend still didn’t think it was “a really big deal” that the guys kept asking to buy them drinks, but eventually, the men got more persistent.
“By the end of the night, it’s just me and my friend dancing together,” she said. “And the two guys from earlier come up to us and shove beers in our hands.”
Aili’s first red flag was that it was weird that they went ahead and bought the girls drinks even though they had declined offers all night.
“They didn’t say ‘We bought you these drinks.’ They didn’t say, ‘Do you want to drink?’ They just put them in our hands,” Aili said. “My friend started drinking hers immediately. As I put mine up to my lips, a voice dropped in my head and said, ‘Don’t drink that.'”
Aili ran with her gut feeling and, instead of drinking her beer, told one of the men to have a sip first.
“Instead of drinking it, I put it back in his hand, and I said, ‘You drink it.’ He was so stunned — he literally backed away, and all he could say was, ‘No,'” she said. “I pushed it out again, and I said, ‘Take a drink,’ and he said, ‘No, I got it for you.’ I was like, ‘I don’t want it. Let me see you take a drink.’ He wouldn’t even take the drink from me.”
Once Aili confirmed her suspicions that something must be wrong with the drinks, she stopped her friend from finishing the beer, and the two started making their way to the exit.
“As we were leaving the dance floor, he followed us out,” Aili said of one of the men. “My friend went from being able to dance with me and talk to stumbling around, barely able to form a sentence.”
Fortunately, Aili was able to get herself and her friend into an Uber to go home immediately. But before getting into the car, she noticed the men were still watching them.
“I made eye contact, and I said, ‘Those are the two guys,'” Aili added. “We both turned around, and they were gone. We made it home [safely] last night, but I know [there are] so many women out there who don’t.”
Aili also gave an update to the 6 million people who saw her TikTok in the comments section.
“We went to urgent care today, and my friend is safe and OK,” she wrote. “We will be filing a police report and contacting the bar. Stay safe, sweet friends.”
The majority of commenters were stunned by how intuitive Aili was in the situation and thankful she was able to keep her friend safe.
“You saved you and your friends’ lives!” someone said. “Sending you both so much love!”
“I don’t know a woman who doesn’t have a story like this,” another solemnly added. “I’m glad you’re OK.”
“This is so, so scary,” a commenter wrote.
