With supermarkets facing unprecedented crowds as coronavirus panic reaches a new level, shoppers have complained about the ‘un-Australian’ tactics some are using to get around shopping limits.
With Coles, Woolworths and Aldi all announcing a one-item limit on many products, it seems some sneaky shoppers aren’t going to let the supermarkets’ strict rules stop them stocking up on groceries.

Shoppers claim they saw families exploiting the one-pack toilet paper limit today by getting their young children to buy the coveted item.
The ‘tactic’
Parents were reportedly spotted handing out cash and toilet paper to their children before hitting the checkouts, so the youngsters could make purchases on their own - much to the shock of fellow shoppers. The rule effectively sees the families get around the rules, as they’re making separate purchases - even though they’re for the same household.

‘That’s un-Australian - there will be nothing left for anyone else,’ one shopper was reportedly heard saying.
Other shoppers, meanwhile, have reported seeing other shoppers use disguises - including hats, glasses, change of clothes - to go in and out of stores repeatedly to buy toilet paper, without being detected.

‘I literally saw a guy walk to his car with toilet paper, change his top and put on a hat before heading in to buy more,’ said one shopper on Twitter. ‘Unbelievable.’
Aldi, Woolworths and Coles have all called for calm in stores, advising shoppers to only buy what they need.
‘We ask our customers to remember to show kindness, empathy and calmness when shopping with us,’ said an Aldi spokesperson.
