(KNSI) - Various businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities have closed or instituted restrictions for visitors and events are cancelled across Minnesota. Many say officials are panicking in making these decisions.
Stearns County Public Health Director Renee Frauendienst says it is not panic, but a tactic used to contain the spread of the virus. If events continued as planned, Frauendienst says, the spread of the virus would be much more rapid.
Wednesday, Stearns County announced it had its first presumptive positive case of COVID-19. Officials say they are monitoring the situation closely and will update the public as more information becomes available.
