The vision is reportedly taken from the Yidu Feiyan salon in Luzhou, a city in China’s south-western Sichuan Province.
The saloon, which released the footage, said the tactic was putting employees and customers at ease as they try to avoid contracting or transmitting COVID-19.
After a long period of mandatory business closures amid the outbreak, the salon opened its doors to clients once more on March 1.
Extra mile
A surgical mask is mandatory in order to enter the premises, with the hairdressers also covering their mouths and noses in accordance with official health guidelines.
However, the video shared by hairdresser He Bing shows staff members going the extra mile to ensure another level of safety, providing what has been dubbed ‘long-distance haircuts’.

In the footage, expert barbers hold wooden sticks in either hand as they control a razor and comb.
Each dowel stick is about 90cm long and is used for basic tasks such as washing, cutting and blow-drying, the salon said.
The new method is thought to have been popular among customers who are welcoming the entertainment during a time of high tension over the disease.
Long-distance haircuts are understood to come at no extra cost to clients.
