Over the last five NASCAR races held at Richmond Raceway, Denny Hamlin has led 449 laps and taken four top-10 finishes, but he hasn't won. His last win at the short track came in 2016, but he's hoping to change his fortunes on Sunday after getting off to a slow start in 2022. Three of his races this season have ended with accidents or engine issues, but should that exclude him from your NASCAR DFS lineups for Sunday's 2022 Toyota Owners 400?
Hamlin briefly led on last week's road course in Austin and has consecutive second-place finishes in his last two appearances at NASCAR at Richmond. Is that enough of a reason to put him back into your NASCAR DFS strategy for NASCAR in Richmond 2022? Before you make your NASCAR DFS picks for the 2022 Toyota Owners 400, be sure to check out the optimal NASCAR at Richmond DFS strategy and advice from SportsLine's Mike McClure.
McClure has won almost $2 million in his career as a daily Fantasy pro, and his NASCAR DFS driver pool, projections and advice can help you score a big win on Sunday.
Last week, McClure was extremely high on Chase Elliott in his EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix picks on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, who finished fourth after starting 12th in the grid. Two weeks ago, he was high on Martin Truex Jr. who battled up from 26 to finish eighth at the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. His model, which simulates every race 10,000 times, called seven outright winners last season. Anybody who has followed his picks has seen huge returns.
Anybody who has followed his picks has seen huge returns. Now, he's turned his attention to Sunday's 2022 Toyota Owners 400. He's only sharing his picks and NASCAR DFS driver pool here.
Top 2022 Toyota Owners 400 NASCAR DFS picks
For NASCAR at Richmond, McClure is high on Truex Jr. ($9,600 on DraftKings and $14,000 on FanDuel). He has won three of the last five races he's run at Richmond and took top-five finishes in the other two. Last week at the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix, Truex climbed from his starting position of 17 to finish seventh.
Trruex Jr. is also seventh in the overall NASCAR Cup Series points standings with 172. The D-shaped oval at Richmond offers two corridors where drivers will have an opportunity to gain ground within the pack. That should suit Truex Jr. throughout the race, as he is second among all NASCAR drivers in quality passes this season with 558.
Another part of McClure's optimal NASCAR DFS strategy also includes rostering Joey Logano ($9,200 on DraftKings, $12,000 on FanDuel), who is third in total points this season with 185. Logano also has an impressive recent history at Richmond, with three top-five finishes in his last five appearances. He'll be looking to bounce back from last week's race, when he finished 31st despite finishing in the top five during both race stages.
This season, Logano leads all drivers in laps completed inside the top 15 of the pack with 1,102. In last year's Toyota Owners 400, he led for 49 laps and had the third-highest driver rating in the field with 121.2. Richmond could be just what the doctor ordered for Logano, who has led just 33 total laps so far this season.
How to set 2022 NASCAR at Richmond DFS lineups
McClure is also targeting an undervalued driver set to return plenty of value. He's in a prime position to make a run at the checkered flag and comes at a price that won't break the bank. You can see who it is, and every other pick, right here.
