Nick Kyrgios is on fire in his third round Australian Open match against world No.3 Dominic Thiem, winning the second set of the encounter with the cheekiest underarm ace.
The ace, which you can watch in the video above, gave the Aussie firebrand a 2-0 lead in the match, with no signs of slowing down.
It was Kyrgios’ second underarm ace of the match against Thiem, a player who’s been known to return serves from deep in his own court.
Kyrgios’ early dominance dispelled fears that fans would have to be evicted from John Cain Arena early due to Melbourne’s Stage 4 lockdown coming into effect at midnight.
Earlier, Tennis Australia confirmed that fans will forced out of Melbourne Park by 11:30pm in order to get home before lockdown starts.
If not they could face fines for breaching the lockdown order announced by premier Daniel Andrews after Melbourne’s Holiday Inn outbreak.
The potential predicament caused mass confusion on Friday afternoon as tennis fans wondered if they’d be subjected to the rules.
