Fantasy Basketball Picks: Top DraftKings NBA DFS Lineup Strategy for Hornets vs. Kings Showdown on February 28 - DraftKings Nation

ersamoyor.blogspot.com

Sunday’s jam-packed NBA slate comes to a conclusion when the Charlotte Hornets take on the Sacramento Kings in the nightcap. Both teams come in reeling — the Hornets have lost four of their past seven, while the Kings picked up a win on Friday, but the victory snapped a nine-game losing streak. There’s sure to be plenty of scoring in this one with a huge total of 238 set on DraftKings Sportsbook, and with injuries on both sides of the ball, there should be some intriguing value options. Let’s get into how to construct your Showdown lineups for Sunday evening.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Hornets SF/PF Gordon Hayward (hand) and C Cody Zeller (hip) have been ruled out tonight vs. the Kings.

Captain

LaMelo Ball ($14,100 CP)

If you want to stack up the Hornets here, you’re not going to find any objections from me. The Kings currently own not only the worst defensive rating in the NBA but the worst defensive rating in the history of the league. You can choose to save a little money, or you can go with Ball, who has gone over 40 DKFP in three straight games, despite having the difficult task of doing so against some of the league’s top defenses. He should once again be the go-to guy for the Hornets, and he’s flashed supreme upside with assists.

Malik Monk ($8,400 CP)

If you’d like to stack Charlotte like the rest of the public, but still have a unique build, you may want to turn to Monk with Devonte’ Graham ruled out once again for the Hornets. Monk should continue to see big minutes, and in the past three games — again, against good defenses — he’s scored at least 20 points. The former first-round pick has serious upside at this price and will allow you to get Ball, PJ Washington ($6,200)\ and some high-priced Kings in your lineup.

Fades

Cory Joseph ($3,400)

Just in case you’re considering it ... just don’t. The Kings are without Tyrese Haliburton (calf), and in the games he’s missed, Joseph has been a popular value play. The problem? Despite some decent playing time, the veteran hasn’t made much of an impression on the stat sheet, scoring just 13 combined points over his past five games. Luke Walton has chosen to give some of the Kings’ younger players some run instead of increasing Joseph’s minutes, and with the way he has played, he’s probably trending in the wrong direction, toward the bench.

Value FLEX Options

PJ Washington ($6,200)

He’s not exactly a super value here, but with the Hornets almost definitely without Gordon Hayward ($8,000; hand) and Cody Zeller ($4,800; hip), Washington should get another start here and get a ton of the ball. He’s coming off a 43-DKFP outing, so he could be chalky, but the usage is going to be too hard to pass up. Sacramento’s paint defense, like the rest of the unit, has been pretty bad this season.

Caleb Martin ($3,000)

He’s returning from a six-game absence under the league’s health and safety protocols, and though he won’t play a ton, he should see the floor for 20-plus minutes with Hayward still unlikely to play. He should match up with DaQuan Jeffries ($2,000) on the second unit, a matchup I expect him to win.

Kyle Guy ($2,200)

This is purely speculative and a better GPP play than cash game lock, but there have been whispers of Luke Walton using Guy a bit more with Haliburton out. He saw 15 minutes in the Kings’ last game, and given how poorly the aforementioned Joseph has played, I don’t see his minutes going anywhere. Guy can shoot it, and the Hornets’ wing defense has been weak this season, particularly on the second unit.

The Outcome

Absolutely no defense will be played here, which should make for a fun showdown slate. I think the guard play for Charlotte will make the difference against a Kings team missing Haliburton and Hassan Whiteside on the second unit — both good defenders, particularly compared to the rest of the team. The Hornets’ top options here — Ball and Washington — have been going too well at the moment, and Charlotte’s going to have both Martin twins active, adding a bit of much-needed depth. They will sneak by in a shootout.

Final Score: Hornets 134, Kings 129
