In the second game on the Sunday slate of Super Wild Card Weekend, we have the No. 7 seed Chicago Bears traveling down to the Big Easy to take on the No. 2 seed New Orleans Saints. The Saints are coming into this matchup hot at the right time and might have Alvin Kamara back in the fold, who missed last week’s game due to COVID-19 protocols.
Speaking of Kamara, many DFS players will be spending a considerable amount of their salary cap on him, Drew Brees, Allen Robinson, David Montgomery, and Michael Thomas.
Outside of the big names, who are some lower-tier value flex plays on both teams that could help you win this Wild Card game showdown on DraftKings? Let’s discuss some options below.
Jared Cook, TE, $6800
The New Orleans Saints veteran tight end sometimes gets lost with all of the other weapons that the Saints have, but he’s been productive over the last few weeks. Last week against the Carolina Panthers, Cook had 14.3 fantasy points (four receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown), making it the second-straight week that he scored double-digit fantasy points.
Furthermore, in New Orleans’ last five games, Cook has three touchdowns and averaging 4.6 targets per game. This season, Chicago’s defense is allowing 12 touchdowns to opposing tight ends, which is third-worst in the NFL. They are also ranked 30th against tight ends (OPRK).
Darnell Mooney, WR, $5800
For the Bears to have any chance of pulling off the upset on Sunday afternoon, they will need a couple of big passing plays from Mitchell Trubisky to rookie Darnell Mooney. The rookie wide receiver is listed as questionable for the wild card game, after a breakout Week 17 performance.
In last week’s game versus Green Bay, Mooney had 11 receptions (13 targets) for 93 yards. Despite not scoring a touchdown, the rookie had 20.3 fantasy points at a $5400, making it the third game in four weeks where Mooney reached the double-digit threshold. On Sunday, Mooney will likely be covered by Saints Janoris Jenkins as Robinson will draw the attention of Marcus Lattimore. Between the two, Mooney’s matchup is more favorable and something that the Bears must attack throughout the game.
UPDATE: Mooney wasn’t able to practice this week but was still listed as questionable. If he can’t play, Javon Wims and Riley Ridley get a boost.
Latavius Murray, RB, $4000
According to Alvin Kamara’s twitter account, the superstar running back should be in line to play on Sunday afternoon. However, if he doesn’t, then Murray will get a lion share of the carries against the Bears. Before going on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the veteran running back had back-to-back games where he scored double-digit fantasy points.
In Week 16 against the Vikings, Murray had 72 yards on 12 carries, along with three receptions for 24 yards (12.6 fantasy points). The game before that in Week 15, Murray only had three rushing yards. But he still found a way to score 10.9 fantasy points on two receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown. This season, the Bears’ defense is giving up 113.4 rushing yards per game, good for 15th in the NFL.
