Lando Norris has called for McLaren to investigate its Dutch Grand Prix strategy after dropping out of podium contention.
The British driver started alongside Max Verstappen on the front row at Zandvoort and held position but as rain fell midway through opening laps, the Woking-based outfit opted to keep both Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri out on slick tyres.
This proved to be the wrong call as Norris dropped down the field as the different strategies played out.
But he was able to steadily make progress back through the field, eventually finishing seventh after battling with Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton.
Addressing his race, Norris told media including RacingNews365.com: "It's clear we made the wrong decision. We made a bad decision and it's something we'll review and discuss because I guess we have made a couple this season.
"We've lost too many positions and also the points throughout this year with a couple of these things.
"The second part of the race it looked like we made the right decision, we were one of the first ones to box, and we gained some time and position to George [Russell]."
Norris explains contact with Russell
Russell joined Norris in the battle for fifth in the closing stages and when side-by-side through Turns 11 and 12 late on, the duo made contact, resulting in a puncture for the Mercedes driver that left him last of the finishers.
On the contact, Norris added: "The cars are so sharp nowadays, you touch them a little bit and it's like a full punch all of a sudden.
"It's just good racing, we were close, wheel wheel-to-wheel and I feel bad that it came off that way."
