New World Cheaters' Company Tactic Is Banning Innocent Players - Screen Rant

Cheaters in New World are reportedly exploiting the game by getting enemy players banned in order to gain an advantage against rival factions' companies. While the new MMORPG from Amazon Games is off to a relatively strong start in terms of player counts, players have spotted several technical issues and struggled with one another as far back as the game's beta tests. One ongoing problem is that New World evidently breaks some graphics cards, though the number of people affected by this appears to be minimal.

Some players have also fallen victim to those who have abused New World's faction and territory system, with unscrupulous individuals scamming others out of large amounts of gold. These opportunists operate by collecting donations from faction members before taking their gold and defecting to an opposing faction. New World’s in-game systems appear open to abuse, but it's hard to tell where to draw the line between intended mechanic and unaccounted exploit in some cases. With the latest player trend, however, it's clearly the latter.

Player reports collected by PC Gamer detail experiences of being mass-reported and subsequently banned, with a bulk of these stories being shared on Reddit's New World subreddit and the game's official forums. Reddit user grayson1478 says half of their company (a much smaller player group than New World's three factions) got banned in this manner, while forum user Nevkrision claims the company they were set to go to war against reported their top players to prevent them from participating in the conflict.

From the looks of it, it seems New World may have an automated ban system that instantly bans mass reported players for at least 24 hours. Unfortunately, Amazon has given conflicting statements on the matter, with one customer service representative's response shared on Reddit confirming the automated ban system is based on frequency of reports in a short period of time, while another on the New World forums says user reports are reviewed manually by real people. Some players have also reported that their ban appeals were responded to long after their bans had already passed.

This is a frustrating situation for an untold number of New World players, as those who haven't yet been targeted by mass reports are likely wary of being banned next. It seems clear that Amazon Games needs to adjust its reporting and ban systems based on the abuses it's allegedly allowing at present. Hopefully, the studio takes the time to address this specific situation before more of New World's large playerbase fall victim to false reports.
