The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has outlined its enterprise approach to transform how NGA produces, manages and shares geospatial intelligence in a 28-page document.
NGA said Wednesday its Data Strategy 2021 will serve as a supplement to the agency’s technology-focused strategy and has driven its implementation of a framework to coordinate data policies and stewardship efforts.
“It is essential that we take all actions necessary to sustain our advantage in GEOINT — and that includes managing our data as a key strategic asset,’’ said Vice Adm. Robert Sharp, NGA director and a two-time Wash100 Award recipient.
Goals outlined in the public document cover data accessibility and reusability, cross-domain efficiency and next-generation GEOINT capability.
The agency noted that it seeks to deliver intelligence as a shared service, scale information and analytics systems and expand employees’ data literacy to complete missions.
“With the holistic enterprise approach mapped out within this new data strategy, NGA sets forth a path for leading the way and staying ahead of our competitors,” Sharp added.
