I'm A Celebrity star Beverley Callard's Corrie husband Charlie Lawson hints she could be saying she's a vegan as a 'TACTIC' to avoid eating animal parts
She's been settling into the I'm A Celebrity camp at Gwrych Castle in Wales.
And Beverley Callard's on-screen Coronation Street husband Charlie Lawson has now suggested that she could be faking being a vegan as a 'tactic' on the show.
The actor, 61, who played Jim McDonald in the soap, teased that the star, 63, might be trying her best to avoid eating 'sheep's b*****s' and other questionable delicacies.
Cheeky claims: Beverley Callard's on-screen Coronation Street husband Charlie Lawson has hinted that she could be faking being a vegan as a 'tactic' to avoid eating animal parts on I'm A Celebrity (pictured on the show)
Speaking with The Mirror, Charlie said: 'Well, maybe she is or isn't a vegan. I couldn't possibly comment. If it was a tactic, it meant you wouldn't eat sheep's b*****ks.
'So look I'm sure she is vegan bless her, I wouldn't know but it's not a bad ploy if animal penis is on the menu.'
Charlie also said he was confident Beverley, who played Liz on Corrie, will do well in the show, but warned the campmates not to 'wind her up the wrong way'.
He said: 'She’s a very sweet lady but there’s another side to her. If you rub Bev up the wrong way, she won’t only tell you to wind your neck in. She will wind it in for you.'

Charlie added that he was 'very proud' of Beverley for going to the Welsh camp as he shared his views on some of her company.
Although saying Jordan North was 'very brave facing his fears', Charlie joked that he wished the radio host 'would do it quietly' after he shrieked his way through trials.
Beverley has been throwing herself into camp life during the current series, however following Tuesday's stomach-churning 'eating trial', fans claimed she had an unfair advantage after being exempt from certain dishes due to her vegan diet.
And on Wednesday evening, Beverley Callard baffled I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! viewers as the star tucked into bread and BUTTER - despite the latter being a dairy product.
The Corrie star cheered along with campmates as AJ Pritchard and Jessica Plummer revealed the snack which they had won, before she enjoyed a slice of the loaf.
Beverley enthused: 'That is the best bread I've ever tasted' after eating it as slowly as possible.
Taking to Twitter, viewers asked how Beverley was able to eat any bread and butter, given that she claims to be vegan.
'A vegan who can't eat animal parts during a challenge but can eat butter?' asked one fan of the show, with another asking: 'Why is Beverley Callard eating butter thought she was a vegan'.
'How did Beverly eat butter and bread if she's vegan like I need verification it was vegan! Can't even do a proper eating challenge,' wrote one viewer.
What!? On Wednesday evening, Beverley, 63, baffled I'm A Celebrity viewers as she tucked into bread and BUTTER - despite the latter being a dairy product
Hey? Taking to Twitter, viewers asked how Beverley was able to eat any bread and butter, given that she claims to be vegan
'Was bev the vegan callard just eating butter?' asked someone else, while another quizzed: 'Why is Beverley Callard eating butter thought she was a vegan?'
The social media platform was also awash with funny GIFs as fans of the show questioned the truth over the actresses vegan claim.
'Beverley when she's caught eating bread & butter,' tweeted one viewer' while another joked: 'Me investigating what Bev is eating to see if she's REALLY vegan.'
'The producers trying to figure out why bev is eating bread and butter when she's meant to be vegan,' wrote someone else.
The uproar comes after Tuesday night's installment, which saw Beverley take part in the stomach-churning challenge Frights of the Round Table with Vernon Kay and Jordan North.
While the two male celebrities devoured disgusting animal parts, she was served with plates of fermented vegetables.
Yuck! Meanwhile during Tuesday's trial Vernon Kay (left) and Jordan North had to devour an array of animal parts, but were successful, meaning they won 10 stars for camp
Many fans were quick to question how Beverley could take part in the so-called 'eating trial' with her dietary restrictions, even after she, Jordan and Vernon managed to finish all the dishes, earning them 10 stars for the camp.
Ahead of the trial, hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly announced that Beverley would be served specific dishes due to her vegan diet.
The challenge saw the stars each complete two toe-curling meals, with the other four chosen at random.
For Beverley this meant finishing three dishes, fermented plums, fermented tofu, and a cheesefruit, which is known to many as 'vomit fruit.'
Really? I'm A Celebrity fans claimed Beverley Callard had an unfair advantage during the trial, after being exempt from eating certain dishes due to her vegan diet
What's that? One of Beverley's dishes was fermented tofu, which upon eating the required five cubes, the star complained it was 'absolutely disgusting'
Despite helping win a full house in the trial, many fans question whether it was fair Beverley take part in the challenge given her vegan preferences.
One wrote: 'What vegan food can be that bad? Surely being vegan for this is cheating?'
Another added: 'Vegan!! Is that not cheating?' with one fan also posting: 'Being a vegan is cheating on an eating challenge in I'm A Celeb surely!!?? Fermented plums and tofu against testicles and penis?'
Despite her dietary preferences, Beverley, Vernon and Jordan managed to win all 10 stars during the trial, meaning the camp enjoyed a delicious dinner of quail.
It came in stark contrast to the previous day, in which they were left baffled after they were given slimy eel for dinner - despite winning nine stars in the trial.
And it WAS not the first time the first UK series of I'm A Celebrity has caused outrage with its food choices, after the celebrities were fed rabbit during Sunday's launch show.
Tuesday's show then ended with the news that two new celebrities would be moving into the castle - Russell Watson and Ruthie Henshall - once they complete the trial Stage Fright.
