We’re all in need of some entertainment during these times of the unknown. DraftKings is doing its part by offering Madden simulations with a variety of teams going at it. For this piece, we’ll focus on the Eagles-Rams game that will take place at 10 p.m. ET Saturday.

SHOWDOWN STRATEGY
Philadelphia Eagles
My favorite choice for the Captain’s spot in this game is Miles Sanders ($11,700 CP/$7,800). One of the best running backs in our Madden simulations and potentially one of the best running backs in real fantasy football next season, Sanders has been doing everything for the Eagles. He’s involved in the passing game, running game and even has returned a couple of kickoffs for touchdowns. Sanders has rushed for 2,524 yards and caught 84 passes, leading to an average of 15.3 DKFP. He’s a bit too cheap for his production and Sanders can produce regardless of game script.
Carson Wentz ($10,400) is the overall top fantasy producer in this game. His salary is lofty although I do think he’s a stronger option in this contest than Jared Goff. Comparing the quarterbacks, Wentz is only $400 more expensive and averages 1.0 more DKFP per game. Since Sanders gets so much work in the passing game, it’s viable to stack Wentz with the running back. Sanders has 610 receiving yards and six receiving scores, so we could see the two combine for a touchdown.
Of the Eagles’ receivers, Alshon Jeffery ($8,600) is the highest-rated and averages the most DKFP. Jeffery has an 85 overall rating and is scoring 13.2 DKFP. For his price, he doesn’t stand out as a great play. This is especially true when considering that the Rams have Jalen Ramsey as their top cornerback. Instead, I would rather go cheaper at receiver and roster Nelson Agholor ($4,800). At about half the price of Jeffery, Agholor averages 10.7 DKFP and won’t be facing as difficult a matchup.
One more strong option to consider from the Eagles is Zach Ertz ($8,200). The Pro Bowl tight end averages 14.1 DKFP and he has a 90 overall rating. By a wide margin, Ertz has been the top option in the Eagles’ passing game. Getting constant targets from Wentz, Ertz has hauled in 179 passes for 2,213 yards.

Los Angeles Rams
The narrative about running backs performing poorly in these sims is accurate, although there are a few exceptions to the rule and we have two of them in this game. Todd Gurley ($9,000) has an 86 rating and averages 14.8 DKFP, making him one of the more productive running backs in the Madden games. There aren’t many Showdown contests where we can roster running backs on both sides, but I think we can in this matchup.
At QB, Jared Goff ($10,000) has a 77 overall rating and is averaging 16.5 DKFP. He’s in play, although I think he is slightly overpriced and the weaker option of the two starting quarterbacks. Since the Rams have been running the ball more often than most teams, Goff’s touchdown upside hasn’t been all that high in these games. He’s gone 14 games in a row with two or fewer touchdown passes.
The Rams’ top wide receiver is Cooper Kupp ($8,800), although he’s certainly not the best value. Despite being No. 1 on the depth chart, he’s barely rated higher than the No. 2 and No. 3 receivers since the Rams are deep at the position. Kupp is an 87, while Robert Woods ($7,400) is an 86 and Brandin Cooks ($6,400) is an 85. Since being lower on the depth chart typically means easier matchups, Woods and Cooks make for better fantasy plays at cheaper prices. Of the two, Cooks is my favorite play since he’s averaging 12.8 DKFP and has the cheapest price as the third wideout on the depth chart.
THE OUTCOME
In Madden, both of these teams are going through some rough times. The Rams have won just one of the team’s past eight games. Things have been better for the Eagles, although only marginally. Philly has won three of its past 10 games and the offense has been concerning. The Eagles have scored 18 or fewer points in six straight games. Considering the Rams have only scored over 20 points in two of the past 14 games, this looks like it should be a low-scoring game.
Final Score: Eagles 17, Rams 16
